Anything Goes is a charming, effervescent, funny, nimble-footed musical. We are looking for performers with those exact qualities. 

Audition Information

Please familiarize yourself with our General Audition Guidelines before arriving.

Please prepare 16-32 bars of any up-tempo showtune and a one to two minute monologue. You must provide your own sheet music in the appropriate key. Dress for dance and please bring tap shoes if you have them. Actors of all racial and social backgrounds are encouraged to audition.

Character Descriptions

Reno Sweeney — An alluring evangelist turned nightclub singer.  Charismatic, funny, confident.  A showstopper.  25-40.  Alto/Belter G3-Eflat5.

Hope Harcourt — A beautiful debutante and a good daughter.  Torn between duty and love.  Sparkling personality.  Soprano.  20s. A3-Eflat5.

Evangeline Harcourt – Her mother, a widow.  Social climber, a bit bossy and dramatic.  Essentially a non-singing role.  40-65.

Lord Evelyn Oakleigh — A wealthy Englishman.  A little hapless, a little clueless, proper.  Engaged to Hope.  Aristocratic dialect.  25-45.  Baritone C2-G4.

Elisha Whitney — A goggle-eyed tycoon.  Rich and with limited vision in more ways than one.  A boss.  40-65.  Baritone C2-D4.

Billy Crocker — Whitney’s young assistant.  Smitten with Hope.  Engaging and resourceful.  20s-30s. Baritone B2-G4.

Moonface Martin — A hapless gangster, Public Enemy No. 13.  Loyal, likable, more of a rapid-fire tongue than a rapid-fire gun.  Must possess Groucho Marx-like comic timing.  30-60.  Baritone Bflat2-Gflat4.

Erma – A sassy gangster’s moll.  Ditzy, magnetic, from the Bronx or Jersey or someplace like that.  A brazen hussy.  25-40.  Alto/Belter A3-Csharp5.

Luke and John – Two Chinese converts.  Fun-loving, repentant gamblers.

Captain of the ship.  In command but a bit insecure.  35-65.

Purser of the Ship.  Nervous, efficient, younger than the Captain, eager.  20-40

Angels – Sexy showgirls with Reno’s nightclub act. Strong dancers. 20s-30s

            Purity, Chastity, Charity, Virtue

Male Quartet– Four Sailors.  Men in white.  Manly, strong singers and dancers.  20s-30s

Assorted others – A small and busy ensemble of men and women playing various roles, singing, and dancing.
