Musical Theater Audition Prep: Hairspray! (#10438) – for Ages 16-Adult – ADDED SECOND SESSION!

Planning on auditioning for Lyric Arts’ upcoming production of Hairspray? We’re here to help you prepare. Get some hands-on practice for your musical theater audition in this one-night workshop intensive. Students will brush up on movement and picking up choreography in a “dance call,” and receive feedback about their performance. The second half of the night will be about YOU…bring in the song you’d like to audition with and get feedback from the instructor and the pianist. You’ll walk away with confidence and with key things to work on to make your audition memorable.

**Items to bring with you: sheet music you plan on using for your audition (there will be an accompanist), comfortable shoes you can dance in such as jazz shoes, ballet shoes, character shoes or tennis shoes, and a water bottle. Please be dressed for movement and ready to have fun!

Audition Prep Night for Kids

Come practice your monologues, musical theater skills, and singing with an accompanist! The night begins with a 30-minute Q&A session with our Production Manager, Joanna Diem, who will explain and answer questions about all of the in’s and out’s of the Lyric Arts audition process. Parents of younger children are encouraged to stay for this portion as well. Then we’ll break into two groups by age and head into the workshop portion of the night. Students will work on musical theater auditioning, and reading monologues and doing cold reads.

Check back for upcoming dates!
