Do you remember your first summer job? Perhaps you were a cashier at a local store or a cook at fast food joint. Perhaps, like myself, you worked in a call center talking to grumpy people about their lawn mowers. The best part about first jobs: There's usually plenty of room for improvement. This is my summer of improvement.
My name is Adia Zeman and I am excited to be interning at Lyric Arts this summer!
I am a Senior Communication major at the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University, but I am also an Anoka native. I participated in shows at Lyric Arts when I was in middle school and was very active in the theater department during my time at Anoka High School.
My summer at Lyric Arts was made possible by the Jackson Fellowship, a civic engagement and leadership program that provides a stipend for 10 CSB/SJU students to serve at the social justice organization of their choice for the summer while also providing them leadership training at meetings throughout the summer. I am extremely passionate about access to the arts, so coming back to Lyric Arts was a perfect fit for me!
This summer I will be blogging about my experiences at this wonderful place and giving you a behind the scenes look at what it takes to run the only full-time, year-round theater in the northern metropolitan area. I will be armed with a flip-cam and my very own set of keys so let me know what YOU want to know about Lyric Arts!
