I know, I know, May seems so far away at this point. As temperatures plummet before frigid January winds, it seems like spring will never arrive. And still, here we are thinking about the 14th Annual Cabaret Fundraiser. Did you know that other than your favorite Broadway songs, the whole thing is created in-house from start to finish? I can assure you, it's quite an undertaking! Luckily, the same creative team that brought you last year's fundraiser is teaming up for Another Lyric Arts Salute to Broadway Musicals We Can't Afford to Produce!
The show will be directed by Becky Rizzio, who was most recently seen at Lyric Arts directing Annie. Becky made her directorial debut with Lyric Arts last season. She directed our production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas as well as the 2013 Cabaret. She is a core company member with Theatre Unbound, and has directed a number of productions with them as well.
Our Music Director will be Kristen Gates. Not only was Kristen the Music Director for last year’s fundraiser, she was also the Music Director for Okalahoma!, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and All Shook Up.
Last, but certainly not least, the script will be written by Laura Bidgood. She penned last year's script. And this season she also directed The Further Adventures of Nick Tickle, Fairly Tale Detective and is gearing up for How I Became a Pirate this spring.
The creative team will be supported by an amazing group of volunteers, committee members, actors, musicians and artistic staff, making our 14th Annual Cabaret Fundraiser a night to remember! Tickets are on sale now, don't wait!
