What are your ticket policies?
There are no refunds on tickets. Ticket exchanges may be made at least 48 hours in advance of purchased performance with a $2.00 per ticket transfer fee. Tickets may not be exchanged for a different production.
Any unused ticket may be turned into the Box Office before any performance for a tax-deductible donation receipt.
Group rates are available for 15 people or more for all regular season productions.
When are the performances?
All productions on Thursday start at 7:00pm, Friday at 7:30 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and/or 7:30 p.m., Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Please visit the Plays and Events page for specific dates and times for each production.
At what time should I arrive?
Please arrive early for performances. Doors to the lobby open at least one hour before curtain time, and guests are admitted to the auditorium 30 minutes prior to the start of the performance. If guests are buying tickets at the door or picking up tickets at the Box Office, they should allow at least 15 minutes to do so, as there are often lines.
As a courtesy to all guests, late arrivals and guests re-entering the theater may be asked to wait to be seated until a suitable break in the performance occurs, at the discretion of the Lead Usher.
At what age should I bring my children?
While we at Lyric Arts are always excited by the prospect of inspiring a child with a love for the performing arts, it is our policy not to admit children under the age of six to regular season, full-length performances at the Main Street Stage, unless it is one of our Family Fun Matinee performances. Our Family Fun Matinee performances are held throughout the season and children aged 2 to 4 are welcome to attend. For all other performances parents, grandparents, and adult chaperones should be aware that is best to wait until a child has reached the age of six since the length of most regular season performances is not appropriate for children under this age.
This policy does not apply to performances of “Mainly for Kids” Productions. Children two and up are welcome to attend these performances, designed especially for young theatergoers.
Children under two years of age are not admitted.
Regardless of age, any child attending should be able to sit quietly through a performance. If children become disruptive during a performance to other members of the audience, ushers will insist that the children and accompanying adults leave the auditorium. No refunds will be available.
All persons entering the theater—regardless of age—must have a ticket, including children sitting on a parent or guardian’s lap. These tickets are sold at the full Youth price.
Lyric Arts also lists recommended age guidelines for each of its productions, based on content, length, themes, etc. Please contact the Main Street Stage Box Office if you have specific questions about these guidelines.
May I record the performance? Take pictures?
Please turn off or silence cell phones, pagers, and other “noisy” devices as a courtesy to others. Text messaging while in the theater is not allowed. Due to contractual obligation and as a courtesy to the artists, the use of cameras and recording devices is strictly prohibited. Violators may be asked to leave without refund.
Do you offer anything to eat or drink?
We have a concession stand offering popcorn, pop, water, and candy. There is also a Wine and Coffee Bar that offers wine (Merlot, Chardonnay, and White Zinfandel), regular and decaf coffee, hot chocolate, and a selection of hot teas. All items can be taken into the theater for you to enjoy during the performance. Please visit the Concessions and Wine Bar page for a complete list of treats and beverages. We also offer Celebration Packages that can include wine, cheese and crackers, and dessert for you to enjoy during the performance. Please visit the Celebration Packages page for more information.
What should I wear?
Most guests arrive at the Main Street Stage in what might best be described as “office casual”—clothes in which they feel comfortable. Suit jackets and ties are not required for men. Jeans are perfectly acceptable. Individuals having an elegant “night on the town” will come dressed as such. During the holiday season, some families—especially the children—will come dressed in holiday finery.
The temperature in the theater varies from production to production based on audience and cast size. We suggest bringing a sweater or light jacket to insure you are as comfortable as possible.
Do you cancel performances due to inclement weather?
At Lyric Arts, we believe that “the show must go on!” Occasionally, however, a performance must be canceled, usually due to inclement weather. In the event of a show cancellation, tickets will be exchangeable or refundable, with refunds given in the form of a complimentary ticket certificate.
In the event of inclement weather, ticket holders should call the Main Street Stage Box Office (763-422-1838) to hear an outgoing message describing whether Lyric Arts plans to cancel that evening’s performance. The decision regarding whether or not to cancel will be made—and the message recorded—no later than 5:00 p.m.
If the decision to cancel a show is made earlier in the day, Lyric Arts will make every effort to inform guests of this decision by phone.
