Grab your beach ball and sunscreen and get ready for the Fishing Widows' Cabaret, our only fundraising event of the year!  This year's theme, Beach Party Bonanza, is reminiscent of all your favorite 1960's beach party films. 

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., for wine and light appetizers, giving you plenty of time to buy a raffle ticket or bid in our silent auction.  Then, at 7:30 p.m.,  the doors open for our groovy beach-themed variety show.  It's sure to be out of sight!

Take in our fabulous variety show inspired by the beach party movies of the 1960's.

Boy meets girls and the fall in love...then they have a fight...he goes away, then come back to confess his love.  Meanwhile, the beach is threatened to be taken over by the town building commissioner for a commercial development!  Can the kids (and the audience) succeed in saving the beach?  You'll have to see the show to learn the answer!

Featuring classic songs from the 50's and 60's and toe-tapping, finger-snapping fun!

Have a glass of wine and a bite to eat!

Enjoy free wine and light appetizers before the show begins while you bid in the the silent auction.  Then, after intermission, enjoy dessert in the auditorium while you watch the second half of the show.  Wine provided by generous donation from Barefoot Cellars.  Beer provided by generous donation from Grosslein Beverages.

When you arrive, check in and receive a bidding number.  Or, pre-register when you order your tickets!  Then you're free to start perusing our fantastic silent auction filled with everything from theater tickets and restaurant gift certificates to one-of-a-kind items like private parties, tickets to sporting events, jewelry, and more!

Auction items include:

  • A "Stay and Play" package donated by Grand Casino, including Sunday through Thursday overnight stay, and gift certificates for food and gambling!

  • A one-week stay at a timeshare in Avon, Colorado, courtesy of John Reed.

  • A Pre-Show Patio Party, at the home of Becky and Mike White, including drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and four tickets to Lyric Arts Main Street Stage!

  • A Pool and Pontoon Party for eight, donated by Marian and Mike McCann, including food, beverages, and the scenic Mississippi River.

  • A Rum River Dinner Cruise for six, including dinner, donated by Jim and Jackie Neilson.

Thanks to a generous donation from Gould's Diamonds and Jewelry, this beautiful convertible pearl necklace will also be up for bid.

Valued at $1,000, and made from 7.5mm pearls, this necklace is actually comprised of three different strands which can be put together in number of different combinations.

Buy a raffle ticket!

You could win one of four first prizes in the Fishing Widows' Cabaret raffle!  First prizes include two $250 gift certificates to Sportsman's Warehouse and two $300 gift certificates to Gould's Diamonds and Jewelry.  We will be selling 200 raffle tickets at $10 each, with all proceeds directly benefiting Lyric Arts.  Two drawings will take place on each night of the event, but you need not be present to win.

Tickets go on sale April 11, 2008.  Tickets can be purchased at the Main Street Stage Box Office or from any member of our Board of Directors.  Any remaining tickets will be sold during the event.

How can I get involved?

It's easy for you to get involved with Lyric Arts only fundraising event of the year.  We are seeking volunteers to help plan the event and keep it running smoothly, sponsors to help underwrite the costs associated with the event, and donations for our silent auction,

Volunteers

We will soon be looking for committee chairs and committee members to help plan the event's food and decorations and to procure auction items and sponsorships. 

Then, in order to make sure this event goes off without a hitch, Lyric Arts will need plenty of volunteers to help get things done.  Even if you only have a couple of hours, your help is greatly appreciated!  We will be looking for volunteers who can...

  • Work in the wine bar

  • Sell raffle tickets

  • Work at the registration table

  • Assemble auction baskets

  • Help set up and decorate the lobby and theater

  • Assist with auction check-out

  • Assist with preparing and serving food

Lyric Arts is in need of materials to create and fill out gift baskets.  Great donations include: 

BasketsEach year we need approximately 75 baskets to contain our auction items.  (Please note: baskets cannot be returned)

Bottles of WineWe always need bottles of wine to fill out baskets.

Gift CertificatesGift certificates for area businesses make fantastic auction items and are easily paired with other items to fill out a themed basket.

Arts and CraftsDo you have a talent to share?  Quilts, jewelry, baking, cooking a dinner in your home, etc.

CashWe can use your cash donation to put together a basket of your choosing, to buy the things we need to fill out our baskets, or to help pay for the costs related to the event.
