Musicians Needed: Always Patsy Cline

Lyric Arts is looking for an Upright Bass, Fiddle and Steel Guitar. There is a five piece band who all have the name Bob (Jim Bob, Billy Bob, Bob Bob) and you are Jay Bob - no lines but lots of attitude.

  • Costume and upkeep of said costume will be provided by our costume designers.
  • Assistance with any instrument costs during the run.
  • No makeup needed unless our costumer feels that beard maintenance is necessary. Clearly if you don't have a beard - no worries here.
  • Water will be provided during the performance in clean cold beer bottles each night
  • We always have the Saturday before tech off
  • There is a one hour call before performances starting at opening.
  • The band is being led by our Music Director, Silas Sellnow who will be on the keys as Joe Bob.
  • This is a two women show and we are cast with some great talent.

It's a $200.00 stipend and gas stipend on opening night with two tickets to the show and four comps for preview. Opening night has champagne and cake for you and all your guests after to celebrate.

Workshop Instructors

Lyric Arts is looking for creative, energetic, and experienced instructors to teach theater workshops.  We’re currently accepting applications for Teaching Artist positions for our upcoming workshop season.  We’re looking for teaching artists with experience working with all ages for both acting and musical theater summer camps.

Lyric Arts provides theater education for preschool and school age children as well as adults. We are looking for experienced teaching artists in all areas of theater performance, design, playwriting, and more. 

Title: Teaching Artist

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching Artists are responsible for creating age-appropriate class content, which should reflect the workshop description. This content may be developed with the Education Director or solely by the Teaching Artist. All content will be reviewed by the Education Director.
  • Teaching Artists are expected to teach class content in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere for all workshop students, inspiring them to learn and develop their theater skills inside and outside the classroom.
  • Teaching Artists are expected to prepare a final presentation for workshop participants to perform on the last day of the workshop. Final presentations vary depending on the workshop content and may include theatre exercises/game demonstrations, scenes and/or monologues, musical numbers, mock auditions, or open classrooms.
  • Teaching Artists are expected to follow all workshop instructor guidelines and follow the Lyric Arts Code of Conduct. 

Teaching rate starts at $30 per hour and based on experience.

Internship: Costume Design

Lyric Arts provides opportunities for motivated college students to earn course credit while learning all about the inner workings of the theater.

Title: Costume Design Intern

Salary: Unpaid, possible course credit

Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per week; Spring, Summer, or Fall Semesters

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Assisting the costume designer, this internship will provide valuable experience in the costume design process from research, renderings, to building actual costumes.  The intern would be required to attend production meetings and tech rehearsals with the director and artistic staff.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with costume research including specific time periods andstyles
  • Assist with measuring the actors on the first rehearsal date
  • Create renderings that are assigned by the designer
  • Accompany the designer while shopping for costume items
  • Help with fittings and alter garments as needed
  • Problem solve with any costume quick changes that occur
  • Sew costumes that are assigned by the designer and complete by due date given
  • Consult with actors during dress rehearsals about any changes to their costumes
  • Assist with hair and make-up design
  • Assist with laundering of the costumes and striking of the show

Qualifications

  • Working towards or obtained a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Costume Design, Theater Arts, Fashion, or other related fields.  Interest in fashion, art, theater, costumes, design, and history are a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong sewing skills are a must
  • Ability to read a commercial pattern and construct a garment from it
  • Garment alteration knowledge
  • Organization
  • Able to complete projects on time and multitasking
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

Internship: Administration & Marketing

Lyric Arts provides opportunities for motivated college students to earn course credit while learning all about the inner workings of the theater.

Title: Administration & Marketing Intern

Salary: Unpaid, possible course credit

Time Commitment: 8-12 hours per week; Spring, Summer or Fall Semesters

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Working with the Marketing & Development Manager, this internship will provide valuable experience in developing marketing and audience development skills, as well as learn about day-to-day operations of a nonprofit theater.  The administration and marketing intern will learn about the basics of working with print, digital, and social media.  The intern will also have the opportunity to work on special projects depending on the needs of the theater.

Responsibilities

  • Write press releases and other materials as needed
  • Update online media services
  • Assist in the distribution of press materials
  • Maintain files of press materials
  • Brainstorm promotional grassroots ideas that will effectively increase interest in Lyric Arts
  • Designing print materials, advertisements, flyers, and online advertising as needed.
  • Assist with research, development, and compiling content for advertising materials
  • Assist in the creation of outreach materials
  • Coordinate and participate in special projects, promotional activities, and events where support services are needed
  • Other marketing and PR projects as needed
  • Other special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Theatre Arts, Nonprofits, PR, Marketing, Music, or other related field
  • Interest in communications, marketing and public relations, and nonprofits
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Creativity
  • Positive, “can-do” attitude
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
  • Detail-oriented and self-directed
  • Computer proficient, includes MS Word and Excel
