An email confirming enrollment will be sent at the time of registration. Students will also receive a welcome e-mail prior to the beginning of your course, (approximately one week in advance), providing you with additional information, e.g., curriculum, what to expect, where to meet on the first day, what to bring, what to wear, etc.

What if I need to cancel?
Refund and Cancellation Policy
Lyric Arts does not offer refunds on workshop tuition. Students and families may cancel a registration up to two weeks before the workshop begins, in which case the purchaser will be given a credit in our system to use toward tuition for a future workshop. No refunds or credits will be given if a registration is cancelled less than two weeks before the workshop begins.
We want all students to be satisfied with their experience at Lyric Arts. If, after the first day of class, a student decides not to continue, we will refund your half of your tuition. After a student has completed the second day of class, no refunds or credits will be given.
What happens if there aren't enough students for a particular workshop?
In the event that enrollment for a particular workshop is insufficient, Lyric Arts reserves the right to cancel any workshop. Minimum enrollment must be reached by the registration deadline. If a workshop is cancelled due to low enrollment, all registrants will be contacted immediately and receive a full refund.
I’m a newbie at this whole “acting” thing. Which workshop should I choose?
Our workshops are open to all experience levels. Whether you’ve been on stage dozens of times or you are just getting started, students will benefit from the high quality learning and fun that Lyric Arts and our amazing instructors have to offer!
Grade and age ranges are guidelines for teaching artists to create content for each workshop as well as the overall comfort of the students, therefore the age ranges are set to maintain for the best quality of each class. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.
For those who are new to the theater and acting world, our workshops are a great opportunity to get your feet wet. If it’s your first time doing something like this, we recommend looking through our current workshop offerings and descriptions, and choosing a workshop based on your interest and age range. If you love to sing and want to work on your performance, take a musical theater workshop. If one of our performance-based workshops inspired by children's literature interest you (e.g. Dr. Seuss, Alice in Wonderland, or Wizard of Oz for example), then sign up for the one that you love the most.
Choosing a topic that is within your comfort zone can help you ease into this new adventure… and you’ll have so much fun in the process!
I am interested in private coaching. Where can I find more information?
Lyric Arts provides space for private coaching in audition prep, musical theater, Shakespearean acting and more for all ages. Please email Adrian Lopez-Balbontin if you have interest at email@example.com.
Can I watch the workshop inside the classroom?
Parent Visitation Policy
We seek to create a safe space that encourages students to be creative and to build self-confidence. We have found that having parents in the room during the workshop can be distracting for all students. Because of our lobby hours and our staffing limitations, the Lyric Arts lobby is not open to the public except during performances. If you or your student is uncomfortable leaving the building during your child’s workshop, please contact our Education Director, Adrian, at 763-233-0804 and we will work something out.
As a parent, should I stay at the theater during the workshop? Or is it okay that I leave and return to pick up my student?
Drop-off and pick-up is at the glass side door that opens to the parking lot.
- Little Kids (Grades K-2): An adult must wait inside the buidling and check-in and check-out each student in person.
- Big Kids, Tweens, and Teens: Families may drop off their child at the side glass door. Teaching Artists will bring all students down to the parking lot for pick-up.
- Walking/Driving: If a student wishes to walk, drive, or take public transportation to and from workshops, please submit a written note signed by a parent or guardian. Please note that doors to the building will only be open for students 15 minutes prior to a workshop's start time.
Classrooms will be open and Teaching Artists available starting 15 minutes prior to workshop start times. Teaching Artists will dismiss workshops on time. Please drop off and pick up your student promptly. Several workshops are scheduled throughout the building and throughout the day. All students are supervised until they are picked up.
Because of our lobby hours and our staffing limitations, the Lyric Arts lobby is not open to the public except during performances. There are some great coffee shops downtown Anoka, if you feel like a short walk down the street!
What should I expect if a workshop session is cancelled for some reason, like inclement weather?
In the event that a single session of a workshop must be canceled due to instructor illness, inclement weather, etc., Lyric Arts will call each phone number provided by registrant. Calls will be made at least three hours before the session’s scheduled start time. A make-up day for the cancelled session will be scheduled.
Is there any sort of production or play at the end of the workshop?
Most workshops include a presentation for family and friends on the last day. This presentation will take place on the Main Street Stage and is FREE to anyone who wants to join us! It’s a great opportunity for workshop students to experience what its like to rehearse and perform for an audience and also for their supporters to see what they’ve been working on. Workshop students and families will receive more information on their presentation date, time and what to expect on the first day of each workshop series.
Skills-based workshops do not have a formal presentation, but family and friends will often be invited to attend the last part of each workshop series as an "open classroom" so that students may share their work-in-progress.
I want to audition for a Lyric Arts production, but I have never done anything like that before. Do you have any suggestions of classes that can help me prepare?
We offer Audition Prep workshops throughout the year for all ages. Students will get hands-on experience practicing auditioning, sharpening their performing skills, and getting questions answered. More information on these workshops and upcoming auditions can be found on our Auditions page.
Even if you don’t have an upcoming audition in mind, sign up anyway! You’ll get great practice and learn something new.
