Page and Stage

Through the Page and Stage program Lyric Arts and the Anoka County Library team up to offer a unique experience for theater and book lovers.  Participants read a playscript and a specialized Audience Guide, discuss and interpret the play as a group, then see the show come to life on our stage.  After the performance, the cast and crew visit with the audience in a Post-Show Talkback.  Think book club, but for theater!  Thanks to the Legacy Amendment, this program is offered free to the public for several of our shows each season.

Audience Guides

Our Audience Guides are an excellent resource for both educators preparing for a field trip and for the curious individual seeking to know more about the play they're about to see.  Our guides include information such as plot summaries, design sketches, and articles on historical context as well as our Coffee Conversations: a collection of pre-show and post-show questions designed to foster dialogue between friends and neighbors as well as in the classroom.

What Audiences Should Know

Different people often feel differently about the definitions of “adult language” and “adult situations” or what content is appropriate for what age of child.  In an effort to make things clear and enjoyable for all of our patrons, we provide a What Audiences Should Know page for every show.  This page contains information on each show such as running time, a detailed list of obscene or offensive language, and descriptions of instances of sex, violence, and substance abuse.  Although we do provide a "rating" for positive messages and age appropriateness, we hope that this information and our suggestions for topics of discussion help parents make an informed decision about bringing their children with them to Lyric

Post-Show Talkbacks

Although our actors meet our audience in the lobby after every performance (a beloved Lyric Arts tradition!), each second Sunday performance has an extra bonus—the Post-Show Talkback!  Meet the actors, ask questions, and find out more about how we make that marvelous theater magic.
