About Billy Johnson

A Burnsville, MN native, Billy Johnson has never had formal training. He taught himself guitar and learned how to sing through church. His musical career began when he played for six years with a band called The Hillcats. After the group split, Johnson started recording songs with his friend, David Russ, who was a guitarist in the area. They ended up having friends come in to help them out and ended up become a sort of “all star” band. The band later developed the name Roadshow and played concerts around the Minneapolis area.
