Barb Hynes-Tomczyk, Director

Barb has directed nearly 100 productions throughout her career in theater.  Her most recent one here at LyricArts was, A Laura Ingalls Wilder Christmas in 2009.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is one of her favorite productions for several reasons: she was involved in the original premiere of the show in Mpls with Donny Osmond, the show has a sly sense of fun, and it’s filled with upbeat, catchy, music.

After 32 years in the field of education Barb is currently a freelance director and theater workshop instructor.   Barb’s passion for theater began when she was 15 years old and continues to this day.

Kristin Gates, Music Director

Kristin Gates recently served as the Music Director for Lyric Arts’ production All Shook Up and she has played horn for several productions including Oliver!,  Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Oklahoma!

Kristin received her undergraduate degree in Music Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and she recently earned her Master’s in Music Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory.  She is currently teaching elementary band in Brooklyn Park.

In her spare time, she enjoys playing her horn, reading, cooking and eating, and all things science fiction!
