Miracle on 34th Street is great family entertainment that will have both kids and adults giggling with glee as Kris Kringle (Robert Mathewson) does his best to prove he is the ‘real deal’. The play quickly brings the audience into its web as the no-nonsense Doris Walker (Lisa Denninger) desperately seeks a replacement Santa for the Macy’s Department Store Thanksgiving Day parade. The replacement Santa not only calls himself Kris Kringle, but claims to be the real Santa Claus. “I Believe!” “I Believe!” “I Believe!” If you happen to walk down Main Street, in down town Anoka around 7:30 on Friday night, you might have heard these chants. These are the chants of the Lyric Arts audience, waiting for the opening of the miraculous play Miracle on 34th Street. At first the actors were a little hesitant to step into their character, but as the night arose, both the actors and the audience were swept away into this popular story adapted into a play, and directed by Cristopher Tibbets.
