About Michael Mellas

Michael Mellas is excited to be directing his first show for Lyric Arts. Since moving to Minneapolis in the fall of 2008, Michael has had the privilege of working with Theatre Limina, 20% Theatre, Theatre Pro Rata, and Urban Samurai. Most recently, Michael directed Protection Program for Urban Samurai. Coming up soon, he will be directing Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap for Heritage Theatre Company.

Before moving to Minneapolis, Michael received his M.A. in Theatre from Miami University of Ohio with a concentration in directing.  At Miami, he directed Jose Rivera’s Cloud Tectonics and taught Introduction to Theatre.  Michael has presented original research on Jose Rivera for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education 2008 conference in Denver, and on Theatre of the Oppressed for the Pedagogy for Theatre of the Oppressed 2009 conference in Minneapolis.
