Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Named Best Musical of the Century by the New York Drama League, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration remains their most innovative. Set in Oklahoma Territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Jud, a mysterious and dangerous farm hand, compete for the affections of Laurey, a winsome farm girl. Featuring classic tunes like Oh What a Beautiful Morning, People Will Say We’re in Love, and Oklahoma!.
