Louise L. Rau, Director
Louise is a graduate of the University of Minnesota -Minneapolis with an MA in Theater Arts. Louise has staged managed and worked various aspects of the technical theater for many college productions. She was lighting technician for the University Theater’s Pepperment Tent for two children’s summer productions and for two years she worked as a Teaching Assistant in the theater department’s sound lab. This experience provided opportunities to design sound for three theater productions and department events, and design lighting for a workshop production in the Experimental Theater.
Since her college days, Louise has acted at several community theaters in the Twin Cities area. Some of her favorite, life changing roles have been Golde in Fiddler on the Roof, Melissa Frakes in State Fair, Mrs. Higgins in My Fair Lady, Gloria in Grace and Glorie, Evelyn in Kindertransport and Sr. Hubert in Nunsense. Louise began her directing career at Lyric Arts Main Street Stage in Anoka and has directed seven productions for the theater: The Odd Couple, Driving Miss Daisy, Steel Magnolias, Beauty and the Beast, To Kill A Mockingbird, Miracle on 34th Street, and Lilies of the Field. She is thrilled to be directing The Boxcar Children her first children’s play for Lyric Arts.
When Louise is not involved in theater she sings celtic tunes as Lily McLyric with the Black Velvet Band at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and other events. She works for Boston Scientific in Maple Grove and lives happily with her husband Jay and three grown daughters Melinda, Heather and Dawn.
