Our workshops for teens provide opportunities for more experienced students to further hone their training and for those just discovering theater to jump right in. PLAYmaking workshops provide students with experience in devising, rehearsing and performing for an audience. Skills & Craft workshops dig deeper into developing specific artistic skills such as character analysis, group improvisation, specialized areas of design, and more. Triple Threat workshops provide training in the three skills that make a successful musical theater actor: singing, dancing, and acting. Private coaching is available in a variety of areas including audition prep, vocal performance, and Shakespearean acting.
Teens will be challenged to think critically about the material, hone in on performance quality, and push themselves to new performance levels.
PLEASE NOTE: For our Workshops, we are currently combining the Tweens and Teens age groups together.
Acting Styles: Shakespeare
Shakespeare’s plays are seen by more people and done by more theater companies that any other play or musical in the country. They are some of the most beautiful plays in existence and, understandably, many actors are afraid of them. Learning how to understand the words and not fear them is exactly what this workshop is about. Students will each concentrate on one monologue and one scene to build their acting chops and even leave with new audition material.
